Terms of Service

Japan Pen Hunt is a sourcing and purchasing service for new/unused fountain pens sold by Japanese retailers. We are not an authentication, appraisal, investment-advisory or repair service.

1. Hunt fees

Hunt fees pay for search work and become non-refundable once the hunt begins. If no qualifying match is found during the initial search window, Standard Hunt requests remain on watch for 30 days and Rare Hunt requests for 60 days.

2. Product availability

Limited editions can sell out at any time. A lead is not reserved until the retailer confirms an order and payment is completed where required.

3. Sourcing fee

Standard purchases are charged 12% of the item price with a USD 59 minimum. Rare Hunt purchases are charged 15% of the item price with a USD 99 minimum. The hunt fee already paid is credited against that sourcing fee.

4. Other costs

Item price, Japanese domestic delivery, international delivery, optional insurance, customs duties, import taxes and other destination charges are separate unless expressly included in a written quote.

5. Inspection

Our inspection checks the delivered item against the retailer listing, including model, nib specification, visible external condition and included accessories where reasonably possible. It is not a technical writing test, nib tuning, appraisal or authentication certification.

6. Returns and cancellations

Before we place the Japanese retailer order, you may decline the proposed item. After we place the order, cancellation or return is only possible to the extent the original retailer accepts it, and the customer bears non-recoverable costs unless the error was ours.

7. Shipping and customs

Risk during transit is handled under the selected carrier's terms and any declared insurance. Customers must provide accurate delivery and customs information and are responsible for destination-country import requirements and charges unless otherwise quoted.

8. Excluded items

V1 excludes used/vintage pens, bottled inks/liquids, counterfeit or replica products, regulated goods, and requests requiring professional authentication or valuation.

9. Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, our liability is limited to direct losses caused by our breach and does not include speculative resale value, lost profits or market-price changes.
